So I recently posted about my desire to get healthy. I feel a lot more committed this time, as it's not just about losing the 7lbs I've put on in the last couple of months. It's about all the other benefits of healthy eating and exercise; I want to be able to run for a train without feeling like I'm going to collapse, I want to clear up my skin and have a sparkle in my eyes, I want to go to bed and drift off to sleep with ease rather than tossing and turning and lying there frustrated. However, the 7lbs coming off is the focus for January, as my birthday is in February!
To kick start my healthy plan, for the next few weeks I'll be following the 5:2 diet. For those of you who don't know, it means restricting your calories to 500 calories for 2 days of the week, and eating normally the other 5 days. And before you think, 'ooh, your body will go into starvation mode and you'll just put on weight', watch Michael Moseley's documentary on the diet. The health benefits of intermittent fasting are truly fascinating, let alone the weight loss benefits. And though 500 calories sounds like nothing, if you make the right food choices you'd be surprised the amount you can eat
Here is my diet plan for week one; I've only factored in the 'working week', as I don't know what my weekend plans are yet!
I probably won't plan my meals to this extent every week (life's far too short), but when starting a new regime I think for the first week you have to be super organised so you have no reason (or excuse) to fall off the wagon
